  4. Welcome to Bernard Of Hollywood's Pin-Ups for Macintosh,
  5. part of the Corel CdHome Series.

  7. This document provides important information regarding
  8. Bernard Of Hollywood's Pin-Ups for Macintosh that wasn't
  9. available when the jewel case insert was printed. Please read
  10. this document before using Bernard Of Hollywood's Pin-Ups.

  20. A. Which Icon Do I use? (Memory error when clicking on icon)
  21. ======================================================

  23. You will notice that for the Macintosh we have installed two
  24. alias icons in your CDHome folder for Bernard Of Hollywood's
  25. Pin-Ups. We have done this so that users with Mac systems that
  26. have additional memory installed may be able to take advantage
  27. of this to obtain increased  performance from their application.
  28. If your Mac has only the minimum 8 megabytes of RAM memory
  29. installed, please use the icon that is called "Pin-Ups 8 meg Ram".
  30. If you have more than 8 megabytes of Ram, please use the icon
  31. that is labeled "Bernard Of Hollywood's Pin-Ups". There is no
  32. difference in the application when you use either of these icons
  33. to start the program, but users with only 8 megabytes of Ram
  34. may get a memory related error if they attempt to run the normal
  35. application alias.

  37. B. Optimizing your system for Bernard Of Hollywood's Pin-Ups
  38. ========================================================

  40. The performance of Bernard Of Hollywood's Pin-Ups is influenced
  41. by a number of factors including the speed of your Macintosh, the
  42. speed of your CD-ROM drive, and the way your system is configured.
  43. Two factors that can influence performance are Virtual Memory and 
  44. 32-bit addressing. Check that your Macintosh has Virtual Memory
  45. disabled and 32-bit addressing enabled.

  47.   To disable Virtual Memory and enable 32-bit addressing:
  48.      1. Click Control Panels from the Apple menu
  49.          2. Click the Memory icon.
  50.      3. Click the Off button in the Virtual Memory section.
  51.      4. Click the On button in the 32-bit Disc Addressing 
  52.         section.

  54. If you still find that Bernard Of Hollywood's Pin-Ups is running
  55. slowly after checking the above items, try  reducing your monitor
  56. color settings to 256 colors. Reducing the color setting may help
  57. increase the performance on slower systems.

  59. C. Troubleshooting
  60. ================

  62. 1. Video display set to thousands of colors after exiting  application
  63. -------------------------------------------------------------

  65. In order for the video clips to run at there best, when you enter a
  66. section of the program that contains video clips, the color setting of
  67. your computer will be temporarily set to thousands of colors. When
  68. you leave this section of the application,  your video color settings
  69. will be restored to their original value. If you choose to exit the
  70. program using the Control Q key combination, while you are in a
  71. section with video clips, your display may not be reset to its
  72. previous settings, and may stay in thousands of colors mode.

  74. 2. Pin-Up calendar date shows up in a different language

  77. If the Pin-Up calendar date on the main Pin-Ups screen is displayed in
  78. a different language, please consult your Macintosh documentation to
  79. verify that the time and date regional settings for your Mac are set
  80. correctly for your time zone and location.
